The Meaning of a Corner Set Aside

A sacred space begins not with objects, but with attention.

It may be a corner of a room, a small surface, or a place marked quietly through repetition and care. What defines it is not its size or arrangement, but the intention to hold it apart from ordinary use.

To set aside space is to acknowledge that not all places are the same. Some are kept for remembrance, for offering, for stillness, or for dialogue with what is unseen.

Over time, such a space becomes more than its physical form. It gathers meaning through presence. Each act of tending—lighting, placing, clearing, returning—adds to its continuity.

In this way, sacred space is not constructed once, but maintained. It exists through relationship, sustained by those who return to it.
